Sourdough French Toast is a great recipe for breakfast! It takes 20 minutes to make, uses 7 ingredients you most likely have in your fridge/cupboard, and is a great way to use up bread (even stale bread!).

What do you need to make Sourdough French Toast?
- 8 slices of bread
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 4 eggs
You also need butter for frying. And syrup, berries, and powdered sugar for garnish if you want!

How to make Sourdough French Toast:
Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, and cinnamon and nutmeg. Using a large shallow dish helps! I like to use a glass pie plate or baking dish.
Soak your slices of bread in the egg mixture. Flip the bread over to make sure you evenly coat each side.

- To cook Sourdough French Toast, simply make sure your bread is well soaked in the egg mixture.
- Heat a frying pan on medium heat and add some butter.
- Add two slices of the soaked bread into the pan.
- Cook for about 2 minutes or until bread is golden brown.
- Flip over and cook for 2 more minutes.

Does sourdough make good French toast?
Sourdough bread is usually a thicker, sturdy bread. When you cook Sourdough French Toast, the outside gets crispy and the inside stays soft. Sourdough French Toast
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 8 slices sourdough bread
Instructions
- Beat eggs together in a large shallow dish. (Glass pie plate or baking dish works great!)
- Add milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, heavy cream and vanilla and beat together.
- Soak each bread slice really well in the egg mixture, flipping over to coat both sides.
- Melt some butter in a pan on medium heat.
- Add 2 slices of the bread to the pan. Cook for 2 minutes or until golden brown.
- Flip the French toast and cook the other side an additional 2 minutes.
- Serve warm with toppings of your choice.
