Eggnog Snickerdoodles Recipe
I know, I know, you don’t want to read a story about random things before you get to the real reason you came here: the recipe! However, this story is actually pretty funny as it tells how I came to have eggnog in April.
So I work at a restaurant/cafe and over Christmas we had eggnog that we used in our drinks. But there were some cartons left over so we ended up freezing them. The other day, we thawed a few and sold some drinks but there was one carton left. My sisters love my eggnog snickerdoodles recipe and I wanted to make it for them so I asked if I could have the last carton.
And that is how I came to have eggnog in April!
After getting my hands on the eggnog, I decided I needed to improvise my recipe. The cookies weren’t as soft as I would like so this is my new and improved recipe!
With this recipe I used baking powder and a bit of soda. I didn’t put any eggs in it (just eggnog obviously!) or cream of tarter.

What is a Snickerdoodle?
A snickerdoodle tastes much like a sugar cookie but has a cinnamon sugar coating! It is probably originally from Germany but the meaning of “snickerdoodle” isn’t 100 percent known.
Can I make the cookie dough ahead of time?
This dough can be chilled/frozen and made later. Keep the dough in the fridge for no longer than a day before baking but it can be safely frozen for 1-2 months in a freezer safe bag.
When I make Eggnog Snickerdoodles Recipe can I double the recipe?
Can’t get enough of these bad boys? Then by all means, feel free to double the recipe. The more the merrier!
Tips for making Eggnog Snickerdoodles Recipe:
- Make sure the eggnog is room temperature. This will ensure the ingredients mix well.
- Keep an eye on your oven temperature. Every oven is different and you don’t want these cookies to burn as they are rolled in sugar.
- I find putting them on the bottom rack tends to make them burn faster, so try using the top or middle racks to bake these.
Can I freeze Eggnog Snickerdoodles Recipe?
You should keep them in an airtight container or well sealed zip lock bags. But yes, they freeze well!
How long do I bake Eggnog Snickerdoodles for?
Depending on your oven, 12-15 minutes is the bake time! I baked mine for 8 minutes, rotated the pan and 4-5 minutes longer was enough. You don’t want the bottom to burn but you don’t want the centers raw either!
