1. Spring cleaning
Now, for me I love cleaning and there’s something about spring that makes you want to have everything new and fresh. Open the windows, grab some cleaner, and start cleaning! You can do anything from cleaning windows inside and out, mopping all the floors, washing pillows and bedding, moving furniture and cleaning under it, taking everything out of the fridge and cleaning it, cleaning the oven, the list goes on. This is a great spring idea!
2. Declutter your house
This one goes along with spring cleaning but it’s more about getting rid of things. Maybe this winter you had a pair of gloves you never wore. Consider donating or giving them away.
3. Decorate Your House for Spring
After you house is clean this is a good thing to do next. And this one can be as complex or as simple as you want it to be! You can do some DIY’s, using Pinterest for inspiration. You can buy signs, pillows or fake flowers to put around your house. You can make a spring wreath. You can buy some fresh flowers and make arrangements. The options are endless but with cheap or expensive, quick or time consuming options you shouldn’t have a reason to not decorate your house! So add this to your spring bucket list asap!
4. Start a Garden/Plant Something
This one depends on the space/location of where you live. If you have lots of land, you could consider planting a bigger garden and growing some vegetables. If you are in an apartment with a balcony, maybe a tomato plant or some herbs or plants would be a wise choice. I haven’t planted anything in years so I think that has to change this spring. Growing up, I used to love spring because it would be a time to buy flowers and tomato plants and vegetable seeds. I would help my Dad and siblings clear out the garden and then my mom would plant lettuce, carrots, and other delicious things which we would enjoy in the summer!
5. Have a picnic
The days are getting warmer and if the ground isn’t wet, having a picnic is a great way to ease into summer. I love picnics and the simplicity of the food choices. Veggies and dip, pasta salads, cheese and meats, sandwiches, chopped fruit, and chicken are just some of the few ideas. So grab a blanket, your favourite person and head out to some green grass.
6. Make a bird feeder
Spring is the time when birds come alive with chirping and many of them are coming back from their winter in the south. So building a feeder is a great way to attract these creatures! Once again, Pinterest is a great inspiration depending on what birds you want to see and how complex you want your feeder to be! But building a bird feeder is a great idea for spring.
7. Fly a kite
As Van Dyke says “Let’s go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let’s go fly a kite!” – Mary Poppins
Flying a kite was one of my favourite things growing up. Something to therapeutic and satisfying about seeing your kite soaring in the blue sky!
8. Make a flower Crown
Usually this is something I associate with summer. But spring has lots of pretty flowers too! You can either buy local from your farmers market, wander looking for wildflowers or use from your own garden!
9. Go for a walk
Winter time is hard too want to get out. Especially for me I find I just want to hibernate all winter. This winter was a little better and I got out a few times but when spring arrives and the sun comes out it’s so nice to get out and enjoy it! Yes, it rains a lot too but when the sun is out, take full advantage! So walking is a great spring bucket list idea.
10. BBQ
Spring is a great time to break out the grill/BBQ and make sure it’s working well, filled with propane and ready to go. There is so much to grill. Fresh local veggies, your favourite meat or meat substitute, peaches (take my word and try them!), corn…. just get grilling!

Jump rope is so good for your heart and a fun way to get exercise in on a warm spring day!
14. Blow bubbles
Blowing bubbles sounds like a kiddy thing to some people. And it’s true, blowing bubbles brings me back to spring days as a child. BUT, if you feel too silly doing it as a grown up, find your niece or nephew or a friend’s kid or your younger sibling, and make some bubbles!
15. Pick up litter
This is a great one because you get some exercise in, help the environment and enjoy the weather. So everyone wins! Grab some friends and walk the beach or coastline, city streets or park. See if your city has any programs you can join.
16. Go for a bike ride
Biking is another thing I loved to do growing up! Nothing more freeing than riding with the wind in your hair and eyes, and the sun shining down on you. Find some trails near you and strap on your helmet! See if you can increase how many miles you bike and go farther each time.
17. Look for rainbows
Spring is a time for rain but that also means it’s the time for rainbows! So next time it rains, don’t be sad. Just look for the rainbow!
18. Take a day trip
It may be hard to travel in some places right now but that doesn’t mean you can’t get out and explore! Plan a day trip right where you are. Whether it’s a museum day, a picnic in the park or a drive to a new place you’ve never been, spring is a great time to see new things. Try a new restaurant and be a tourist in your own city. You’d be surprised at how much this can brighten your spirits and make you feel like you’re some place new.

25. Visit a Farmers Market
A Farmers Market is a great spot to get all the local fresh items! And spring is a great time to check out what’s available. Meal planning is so fun when you can add fresh veggies and fruit to your meals.

Homemade bread is one of the best smells in the world! And eating it is even better! Sourdough, whole wheat, white, rye, oven baked, bread machine, however you choose to make it, just do it!
