2025 was a hard year in many aspects and it’s easy to just write it off as crappy. But that is one of the reasons I do this post every year. It gives me the chance to look back on what actually happened and relive some of the moments (some that are nice to remember and others that suck to remember!) and realize that the year wasn’t all bad. There was really great family time and memories made, self care and growth, learning things from some hard things that happened, concerts, delicious food and drinks, good friendships made and lots of fun adventures through it all. There was also loss, health stuff, burnout, stress, car trouble, family stuff and other things to deal with.
January
January started in the States as my brother and I had driven down to celebrate NYE with friends. Then I flew home and back to work and life! I got a gum graft for 4 teeth which was a crazy process. The healing took awhile as I couldn’t chew for a few days, could barely open my mouth and then no eating hard food for a few weeks. But it went well and all healed nicely.
February
I joined a fitness app and started working out in the gym, went to a Chayce Beckham concert and did a little solo self care evening on Valentines Day. My sister and I went to Polar fest and then the rest of my family surprised me by driving from PEI for the day to hang out!

March
My sister and nieces came to my place for a sleep over and we played games, went to Hop Skip and Jump (an indoor play structure for kids) and made pancakes. I worked out a lot this month, had coffee dates with friends and did a vision board event night with a friend.

April
April was a busy month! I tried about 4 burgers for PEI Burger Love, did a solo museum experience, and then traveled to Ontario for a friend’s wedding. I drove down with my friend (her sister was getting married) and her husband. In Ontario, I visited with some friends and family before starting wedding events. I got to meet my friends new baby and see my friend from NC who was down visiting her family.

Then we had the bridal shower, bachelorette party and lots of prep and shopping and planning for all the events. The events were all so fun and aesthetic! And the wedding was so beautiful and so special to be a part of. Then I flew back home.

May
May had lots of family time with nieces (birthday party) and my Grandma (lunch out to a restaurant), lighthouse and icecream adventures with my sister, and also time with my aunt and uncle who came to visit from Ontario. Our family cat also passed away that month which was very sad as he was very much a part of the family. There was also a lot of self care in May: a facial, some bike riding, a failed date turned solo sushi night, and a pedicure with a friend. I also went to a tea party event with a friend which was super fun!

June
This month had more family time : ribfest with my great aunt, park time and kite flying with my nieces, washing the family vehicles with my dad, beach time with my sister, strawberry picking with my sister and nieces. There was also lots of friend time: Hopewell rocks, beach dates and a birthday party. I also made a trip to Grand Manan which was super fun. Boating, exploring the island, hiking and camping and making some good food. And some ice cream sprinkled in the month for good measure!

July
July was a weird month. It started out so fun and hopeful! Canada Day was spent with my siblings and nieces which was really fun. There was some beach days solo and with family, some good food and drinks, some good gym time, ice cream, hiking, quality family time and all the good things you’d expect from summer. I also tried yoga for the first time, goat yoga with a friend!

Then mid July, the fun times shifted. While I was on PEI for clients, someone backed into my vehicle that I had just got last October. It was a struggle to find a rental car available in the middle of tourist season on the island. And one I could bring back with me to Dieppe and then return there when my car was hopefully fixed. I also had to deal with getting my vehicle towed back to Dieppe. In the end, my vehicle ended up being a write off.
A week later, I got a call that a close friend of mine had passed away. It was a huge shock and I took the last week of July to go to the celebration of life and be near the family.
August
When I got back home, it was weird to get back into routine. My brother let me borrow his electric vehicle that he had bought last year and had given to my parents to use while he was out west most of the year. This ended up being a huge blessing because then I wasn’t rushed to try and find a vehicle. My family and I, including my nieces but minus one of my sisters, went on a weekend camping trip. Then there was fancy cookies, puppy yoga with a friend, tacos and margaritas, mocktails to celebrate a friends birthday, and sister time.

September
The start of the fall months brought ice cream sister dates, a hair chop, a few big move out cleans for the business, apple and peach picking with some of the family, a rodeo event with my sister, and a trip to Halifax with my sister to see a friend. On the drive there we stopped at the farmers market in Truro. In Halifax, we did glow in the dark mini putt with our friend and her bf, and my sister and I spent the night at a campsite instead of a hotel which was fun.

October
This month there was some good food and the last of the dairy bar/summer ice cream. I did a paint night with my sister and a friend, a Chayce Beckham and Warren Zeiders concert with my other sister, and a fall hike/icecream with my other sister. For Thanksgiving weekend, my parents and two of my sisters and I took a road trip to Boston to see my sister’s bf. There was a cute airbnb, coffee, Trader Joes, Olive Garden, exploring Plymouth, some seafood, going into old churches and a library and some Chipotle. It was a super fun trip!

November
November was a very full month! There was a Dallas Smith concert with all my sisters, a trip to Fredericton to see a friend: making homemade ornaments, going out for ramen, and catching up. Then there was another Boston adventure with just two of my sisters this time. That involved the Cheesecake Factory, mall shopping, North End exploring, a cousin visit with some good homemade Italian food, and trying take out Haitian food for the first time. I also made some good food at home, celebrated my Grandmas’ 80th birthday, and had another visit with my aunt and uncle from Ontario. Business wise, I started leasing a vehicle and went to my first ever business event. It was a female only gala style with vision boarding, networking and fancy dresses.

December
Honestly, the last month of 2025 hit like a ton of bricks from day 1! I was the sickest I’d ever been in all my life I think. It took me about 3 weeks to get better and I was in bed for basically 8 days of it with no energy. I physically couldn’t do anything even if I wanted to. Fever, cough, no energy, congestion, I coughed so hard I think I strained a muscle in my ribs. I turned 30 while being sick and didn’t even get to celebrate my birthday so I’m looking forward to doing that in the new year hopefully.
The holidays were actually very nice as I took 5 days off from work and enjoyed quality time with family and friends, hot chocolate, some good food and just being present and not thinking about work.
NYE was spent with my sister and great aunt: going out for pizza, driving around looking at Christmas lights, games and ringing in the new year together. I broke the streak of being sick ringing in the new year but I was basically sick all the rest of December in exchange lol!

2026 will be an interesting year! With some business growth and changes, growing friendships, more self care, some travel, AND learning to slow down, I think I will have my hands full. You never know what the year ahead will bring but I hope it’s a little less difficult than 2025 was. Thank you 2025 for the memories and lessons, but I’m ready for 2026!
